I have a couple of pullets nearly 10 weeks old and the have some faint goldish feathers around their neck.

Will they fall out at molt and be replaced w/correct coloring?

They are from McMurray.

Sounds like a Golden Cuckoo Maran perhaps?

Here is my pullet at 5 weeks.

She is so cute! Mine does not have that much brown on her head just a few faintly brown feathers in a ring around her neck. I'll have to post a photo tomorrow.

Thanks for the thought, I WISH I had GCM!

Okay, so it took me a little longer to post the pic, but here it is.

See how the Maran pullet is overall lighter colored than the other Marans around her? That's a black Jersey Giant behind her for contrast. You can see the CM's gold neck feathers.

As I said before she is a hatchery chick and she's 12 weeks today.

Does anyone else have a CM like this or similar? If so did they produce dark eggs?

My Cuckoo roo has gold on hackles and wings, but the color was not there during the winter, only during the summer. Someone here told me that feathers could get 'sunburned', changing their color.

What a big pretty roo! But, no, they are not sunburned.
