Cuckoo Marans..Feathered and non-feathered legs

I have about 15 cuckoo marans about 3 1/2 months old..I got the hatching eggs from my friend who bought the chicks from Mcmurreys..Some of mine have feathered legs and some dont..Can someone give me a little info on this please? What is the breed standard? Thanks

The french standard is feathered shanks. The British is clean shanks. The breed originated in France, therefore many, including myself, feel that the French standards are the preferred characteristics to follow.

Often times, hatchery birds have not been as carefully bred, so look up the standards and work on your breeding to improve the lines.
