Cuckoo Marans VS Barred Rock... how do you tell? *Edit: Photos!*

Yes it is a Cuckoo Marans and a pullet for sure. A barred Rocks will have more distinct barring at that age and the she is almost black so that tells you she is a pullet.

But dont get all hyped up about DARK brown eggs right now, where did you get her from? The darkness of the eggs is going to depend on how well she has been bred for it. I had a trio of black copper marans that I hatched from a trade deal and they layed dark eggs, but not near as dark as Marans should lay, I have gotten some that are about equally as dark from my RIWhite hens. So dont get all excited until she lays an egg becuase you may be disappointed like I was.
