So my about 3 week old baby cuckoo maran was sitting on the bed today while I got a treat for her and I was carefully watching her because she likes to run away, but she just sat there and did nothing. Then I put some chicken scratch in my hand for her and she didn't even move (although she has never really eaten it before, just picked it up) and then I put my finger on her mouth and she let me move it around and didn't do anything. Is this normal for a chick to behave this way? Also, does anyone know the difference between a cuckoo maran and a marans? Thnx!

My guess is she's cold. If she's warm and still acting lethargic she may be fighting something.

Cold. Sleepy. Confused. ??? If she's never eaten the scratch she could be skeptical at first.

Remember if you're giving food other than crumbles the babies need access to grit.

ETA-the cuckoo is a type of maran. There are several (copper, silver, etc.)
