I am always out next to her when she feeding them or watering them, the only time I am away from her is when I am gardening a like three feet away, however sooner or later I going to give birth to my son and he'll be outside with us in a play pen. another thing that has me concerned. that's why wanted ya'll thoughts on what I should do since I know most of you know chicken way better then myself.

not away when she feeding or watering but when she playing in her pool or sandbox, and some days she in the garden with me. I cant move very fast so she stays close since I am seven month pregnant, I am suppose to be on bed rest but who can stay inside all day and laying around no thank you. I just taking it easier lol my doctors love me.

I make sure all my roosters run from me, they are never to walk towards me, I am dominant rooster, yours has grown too bold and familiar, sounds like you are talking yourself out of finding him a new home, he really should go. Pick up and handle your hens but keep the roosters at a distance, they start to see you as an equal and than a rival. My parents kept roosters when we were kids, I will never forgive them for choosing those nasty roosters over us kids.

Oh no i not going to i am just sad that he has to go whether its to a new home or the freezer i am going to cry either way which i live through she way more important. We had a malamute (a big *** dog) that would change her diaper and was great with her then he started warning biting my arm over human food that was on the table he wanted and he went bye bye because i wont tolerate any sort of agression around her. My husband going to be depressed about this butits whats best for lucy that matters most. Yall are about the only ones who would understand the fact i am upset over this. I wish it hadnt happened but better me the her. And thats all i can say.

yikes I have played with shrimp most of my life and never thought it could get infected... geez is he doing better. and that ankle looks horrible I am so sorry. that's what I am afraid of with him, he been very sweet up until yesterday and that's what has me concerned I dont want it to get worse. that's why I came on here for advice. My two year old loves her chickens so much that she refuses to eat breakfast unless she can see them. and she loves collecting the eggs. she considers it her job to feed them and to water them. She does the same for the cats, dogs, and fish we have. that's why if he dangerous he has to go and cant be locked up because she wouldn't understand why she cant help.
My youngest grandson loves to collect eggs so I was also concerned for him, too.

Another thought too, if it should attack her (run at her) or it didn't hurt her real bad, she would then become afraid of all the chickens.

It finally closed up. The mycobacterium marinum grows very slow so the cultures wouldn't show any infection. Almost 5 months later (last day of Dec.) he woke up and his hand and arm looked like a balloon that was blown up. We rushed him to the ER in our small town and they wanted to take him by ambulance to Victoria, Tx. So he started the new year out in the hospital, that was just his first stay.

Yikes note to self, now i know why my husband like dead shrimp only. Thanks and yeah he going to the freezer unless before tomorrow i find someone who wants him, other wise i ll lose my nerve ok killing him if thats what needed.

i want to thank those who i have stood up for me and for the caring advice that was given. As i know most dont know how i treat my birds i assure you they are spoiled rotten. My leghorns who are the oldest will sit in my lap and will come when called same with my delewares. As will most of the sex links and the rir and brp and our one austroplorp the hen in question doesnt stay with the others at all normally and wont come even when food is involed so cornering her and catching/grabbing her is the only way to get her. Her neck feathers started looking like my roosters so i went to check to see if it was a rooster or a hen. I realize he being a rooster but the fact is the attack was abnormal i normal can walk up to any hen and pick her up and he has never attacked me before. I handle them often as i can.

Back away from the picking them up bit. That behavior would be confusing to a rooster and is often stressful on birds picked up even when they do not try to get away. It is OK if they get on you but it must be without aggression.

Look into what I suggested about collecting birds from roost after dark.

I do know how you feel, I like all my rooster, I have 14. It's never easy, but it's a part of keeping chickens. Good luck.

I understand being upset, but a rooster is a rooster, and sooner or later behaviors shift. That's what I have learned from this experience. It's sad to think that at some point I will have to cull or rehome my roo, but I know it's going to happen whether I want it to or not, as a friend of mine says, it's the circle of life. Even my docile rooster has his moments. After my sister came over with her boyfriend and my rooster not only tried to spur him (he doesn't have spurs yet) and bit him so hard twice it left blood blisters (it was boyfriend's fault, he antagonized him) I know that he has the potential to hurt someone. I watched my sweet, docile boy fly up and spur his leg, and I watched my rooster bite him twice (yes, I was telling her boyfriend to knock it off as he laughed).

I love all my babies don't get me wrong, but they're still animals. Behavior can be unpredictable at any time. I watch my OWN self around my rooster, even knowing he's sweet/docile overall, and tolerates a lot of my going in and out of the exercise and coop area.

My grandparents had a rooster that came first until it got my sister by her eye. I loved my grandparents but to this day I can remember having to stay in the car until grandma got the rooster in the pen so he wouldn't attack us.

My two ran from me but one day that all changed for Mr. Black (the BA). He didn't run he would attack. It's sad to be afraid when you go inside the pen for fear of being spurred by the very rooster you're feeding and watering.
