So I have another post about chicks not being able to walk. Well I tried, I got her walking and then she stoped walking again I think she is just deformed and I think I need to put her down. I have been reading about the baking soda and vinegar method. I am to much of a wimp to use the sissisor method or breaking the neck.everything I see/read about the baking soda method is it is being used on day old chicks I want to know if it will work on a 6 week old she is smaller more batnam sized, I just don't want to end up knocking her out or hurting her I want to make sure it will work quickly......thanks in advance.

I am sorry your chick isn't well.
I have never heard of this method...did you read about it here on BYC?
I'd like to know how/what it is.

Yes I've read about it here and on other website. I don't have confidence in myself to wring its neck. Or cut its head off I feel like I will fumble and leave it suffering.

CO2 can be painful if it is not administered correctly. And using vinegar makes the air that the animal is breathing reek of vinegar. I have used it to put down rats a very long time ago, I won't ever do it again. They panic and race around gasping. It also burns the lungs and throat. They do not just go to sleep peacefully and it is not quick. If you can not bring yourself to cull the suffering chick please find a vet that will put it down for you. I know it is hard to do, and not everyone can do it. But sometimes you have to think about what is best for the animal even if you are crying while doing it. Look into cervical dislocation, it is quick and easy to do. Very fast and it is over. And will be even easier on such a young animal.
I'm sorry you are going through this, it can be really hard. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
