Culling silkie crests

What age should I cull silkies for their crest size? How often does the crest grow or what age does the crest stop growing? Thanks!

If everything else is correct it could be over a year before they have reached full feather potential.

Crest take awhile to come in fully, most breeders don't cull at young ages for crest size sense you can't see full growth for 8-12 months
