I found a package of this in our medicine cabinet. It's a chewable probiotic tablet that contains 'more than a billion' live active bacteria cells.
So I decided to try it for making a batch of fermented feed. I used a few pounds of chick starter, a pound of scratch grains, and 1 pound of whole oats. Dropped one tablet into a bucket with a few gallons of water, added my 'sieve' bucket of feed mix and let it sit overnight. It was bubbling, smelled like beer, and they ate it like there was no tomorrow.
Been going a week now, same water base, just add a little water and feed to top off...get a white cap every day.
Anyways, if anyone is looking for an effective way to kick off a fermentation....this stuff works great.
