We ordered and installed the cup drinkers into 1/2" pipe and drilled and screwed in the contraption (cups) directly. Didn't use the little black glue on part that uses a smaller hole. Anyhow, it went in fairly easy once we took the time to do it. But how do they work? If you push down on the little yellow bone it hits the cup. You have to move it more sideways to get the water to come out. And that takes some strength to move it sideways. We have way too much pressure and have ordered a reducer so I have the hose barely on right now. But all this fiddling I am afraid the chickens are going to just get tired of it and ignore it. Until I know for sure the thing is working properly I won't remove other water sources. Do your yellow bone leavers get pushed down or sideways? How is it going for you and your chickens?

If you have high pressure in your pipe the resistance to the lever will be high. By having the hose barely on does nothing to reduce pressure, Just Volume. When you get your pressure regulator installed there will be low pressure in the output , and activating the cups should be easy. Many peeps use these cups installed where the water source is a bucket container with gravity as the only source of pressure.
WISHING YOU BEST........ :thumbsup

Took my hens a while to get the hang of it, but the cups stayed full of debris. I didn’t use them long.
