Hello just installed the cup system but the chickens are not picking at the vavle so the water is not coming out I have it set up on a preacher vavle it been set up for about 3 days now I don't know if I can trust this cup vavle system

I installed 2 cups on a pvc pipe attached to a 5gal bucket outside the coop/run. I showed my hens the cups as I tapped the yellow valve to show the water to them. After that they use it all the time. Even after adding other hens to my coop they just learned by watching the others use the system.

So still no luck the chickens are no pecking the vavle in the cup what should I do I haft to fill th upy self please help

Have you tried taking away other sources of water? Once the usual waterer was gone one of mine pecked at that yellow thing and the rest just followed.

Maybe you can try putting something they really like to eat into the cup and they will figure the water part out while eating their treat?

Or touch the spot a few times while the leader chicken is watching.?

I have the one with the yellow thingie. Started using it when to chicks were about 5 weeks old because the nipples dripped and made more of a mess then I expected.

Our "leader" is a bold and friendly Rhode Island Red named Pinky Pie... who does everything first and the rest pretty much follow. This has been the case since they were two days old... we are still not 100% sure that Pinky is a hen though...
