Just wondering - If I have a Barred Rock rooster and Americauna (sp?) hen, will the chicks be more BR of more Am? I'm wondering if I will still get the colored eggs? Thanks!

I think when you breed barred rocks they turn out sex links. The males are barred.
I bred a black jersey giant rooster with a barred rock hen and the males were barred and females black

Im not 100% though...
Maybe you should try posting in the breeds and genetics

You will mainly get Barred coloring in your offspring. I'm really thinking you have an Easter Egger, not an Ameraucana though - So, it would depend on the color of EEs you have.

Thanks for the replies. The chicks (so far) are more BR in color, and it's much too early for ME to determine sex. My purpose was to get more "green" eggs. Last year my children gave me 5 Easter Eggers for Mother's Day (from the local feed store) and 4 of them started crowing! So now I'm guarding her with my life and trying to hatch her eggs. Next time I will make sure she is with an Amaricauna Rooster!

We just recently hatched out some Barred Rock EE eggs. We received a dozen eggs from a local guy who had both EE and Barred EE mix hens. Our eggs were a mix from several of his hens. Some were green, some were blue and there were some yellowish brown ones as well. Here are four of the eggs we hatched out. If I can find the picture we took of the full dozen I will post that too.

Most of the chicks we hatched looked like barred rock babies black with either yellow or white spots on their heads but 2 were grey. One light and one dark grey both with yellowish white spots on their heads as well.

I probably didn't answer you question exactly but I am not certain you will only get green blue egg layers from all of them. But the blue green gene will be there. Please someone correct me if I am wrong. This is all theory to me our chicks are only 5 weeks old.
