Curious peck or domination peck?

How do you tell the difference between a curious peck and a dominance peck. Example when you’re in the chicken run with your chickens and they are pecking at you. Soft peck is curious, hard peck is them trying to dominate over you?

I think the other body language is what you have to look at. Is the chicken stalking you around the run while you do chores, are hackles raised, what noises is it making?

Usually it's just curious. Plus, what does it matter? Unless they draw blood, it isn't really a problem.

For me, an ill-meant peck is when they grab you. Any other peck I don't see as mean, but when they latch on, you know they mean business

I've had plenty of hard curious pecks. Then again I've had aggressive ones that don't hurt.
It's not something that's easily explainable, you just spend time around them and get to know the difference.
