Curious what breed this is...

they may all be mixes, but I see a Silver laced Wyandotte, a Black Australorp, and what type of comb does the all yellow chick in the back have? it funny, because a lot of those chicks look just like EEs, but they lack green legs.... it would be helpful if you could ask your friend what breed hens, and what breed roos she has!

Chicks can superficially resemble a breed without being that breed. As they grow, it gets more obvious that they have a mixed background.

Think about black sexlink chicks. The females can look like Jersey Giants and the males like barred Rocks. Neither is, of course, and they will show themselves to not be as they grow. But a lot of mixed chicks look like something they aren't at first.

If the rooster is the same breed as some of the hens, then sure, you'll get some chicks that are a breed. But I'd presume barnyard mixes as the majority would be from a mixed flock.
