Curled feet

Thank you so much for your help, fingers crossed and I will update! These are the only two out of a dozen that hatched. Of course the eggs were shipped and I don’t completely trust my incubator. I’m just glad there’s at least two so they each have a friend.

I just wanted to update and say after leaving them taped for the past 24 hours, little man is standing on his feet! I am so happy. They aren’t perfect (two tips of the toes are kind of on the side instead of straight out) but he is moving around flat on his feet instead of the knuckles. I’ve been supplementing the water with nutrí drench and feeding them scrambled eggs to help with riboflavin. My SO has dubbed him “Penguin”.

Sigh. Woke up this am and his feet were curling again, although not as bad as in the beginning. I taped up his little feet again and this time I will leave it on for two days instead of one. Keeping my fingers crossed. At this point I’d be ok if they were just crooked, as the poor thing was walking around on his “knuckles” initially.

At least each time I tape the feet I do a better job! I’m just hoping I don’t have to do it again but I will if necessary.

They did flatten out, the toes curled a bit at the ends but nothing alarming. Sadly, for unknown reasons, my little Penguin passed suddenly after he was about a week and a half old. His sister died at about four days old. At least this little guy got to spend time outside with friends, I buried him and her where the big chickens love to hang out to get out of the heat and dust bathe. I threw away the incubator that I blame for not properly allowing these poor souls to develop properly.

Thank you for all of your help, and this was not a waste as it’s experience and knowledge gained.
