Hi fellow chicken lovers!!

I have only bred/owned for a relatively short amount of time and I am guessing as I will for the rest of my life with chickens will continue to learn every single day, which is why I am turning to you for some friendly advice...

Today, I had a chick hatch who has a curled toe... Chicky is up and walking and balance appears to be developing normally (like usual).
I had another chick in this hatch with a slayed leg who I am attempting to help with a splint.

I am wondering whether there is any help I can give to this chicky with the curled toe. The foot is working normally other then this 1 single toe.

Any advice chicken peeps?

if its still within the age of two days its bones are soft enough to position it correctly, checkout this for cause and treatment http://www.mranimalfarm.com/curled-toes-chickens-causes-treatment/. I also have 1 chick with 1 singular curled pinkie toe on each foot, I didn't straighten it in time and now I can't breed with it or it will pass it on to chicks, sucks because it turned out exactly what I was aiming for in that breed!

It may not work, but I would try to splint that one toe.

This is great!!! It is only 1 toe so hopefully this should be sufficient!
Thank you so much.
Sorry to hear about your chick :( Such a pain that it can be passed on...

My handsome rooster has a curled toe. He was hatched that way and the person who hatched him did not bother to straighten the. Now that he is full grown, the defect doesn't seem to bother him. I just keep the nail trimmed on that toe since its not worn with use.
