Curled toes/ longterm help

I have a chick that is almost 3 weeks old with curled toes. We tried splinting for a week and then took it off for 2 days and then splinted again for a few days but she got it off so now we just left it off. It didn't seem to make any progress so I was just going to let her be because she doesn't like it wrapped, unless there is more I can do?? But if not, is there anything I can do for her longterm? It walks on his "elbow" and im scared it will ware her skin down and create other problems in the future.

you're gonna have to leave it taped for a long time, changing the taping when necessary. cut out a small piece of carboard just a bit bigger than it's feet when it's toes are spread and tape the feet flat to that. I had to treat a chick of mine who was like this a few months ago. it's 50/50 whether it will work or not, all we can do is try really. I'm not an expert on this, but It's what I was told to do by a vet

When you say a long time how long do you recommend? And is there anything I can do for its leg or will that kind of straighten itself out if its its foot does? Its gets around pretty good and its fine otherwise I'm just worried about how it walks on its leg and in the long term how that'll effect

you can splint the leg so she has to walk on her toes. since she's tiny, you're gonna have to find something small enough to hold the leg straight. so it doesn't rub, use a bit of gauze on her leg and then tape the splint on over that with medical tape, though you have to make sure it's no too tight that she'll lose circulation in her leg.

Looks like a leg deformity to me.

The lump/swelling of the joint is interesting - did it ever ooze?

I'm sorry, but I would have to say with the leg turned in like that it's very unlikely the leg can be corrected. As she matures, gains weight, the other leg probably won't be able to support her.

No it has never oozed but thats also what I was afraid of. I am going to call the vet tomorrow and go from there.

It looks like she broke her leg and has exposed bone. Is this just dirt or a scab? Is it hard and rough? Was she like this from hatch?

I only noticed that yesterday when I posted this for the first time. It no longer looks like that today. Its the color of the rest of her skin and its not super squishy like its fluid filled. Its more firm
