Curling iron to heat bator?

I have heard someone on here mention using a part from a curling iron to heat a homemade bator, but now I can't find that post. I have an extra curling iron and although I already have a Little Giant bator, I would love to build another one to use as a hatcher. I just need a little help, I am confused as to how this works.
