I first noticed it in my Barred Rock Rooster, it kind of sounded like a wheeze and a cough. About a week later some of the hens in the group sound like they have the same thing affecting them. It sounds like the broken squeeker of Wheezy. I've googled and can find that it might be chicken bronchitis. Any one have anything like this happen to their flock? If so how did you fix your team?

Any discharge or mucous from the nostrils, facial swelling or bubbles from the eyes, lethargy?

Infectious Bronchitis is a virus and generally runs it's course over a few months. Birds can remain carriers for up to a year, so keeping the flock closed for that period of time would be a good idea.

You can get testing through your state lab or Zoologix to find out more about what you are dealing with.

If they are eating/drinking and fairly active, then no treatment is given since IB is viral. It may go through the whole flock. If there's noticeable secondary infection (lethargy, bubbles in the eyes, mucous, etc.) then antibiotic treatment may be necessary. Tylan/Tylosin would be a good choice.

Do see that everyone is eating/drinking, that ventilation is very good in housing.
