I'm a new chicken mommy and one of my 16 week old RIR seems to have maybe gotten a little cut on her right foot. She has started limping and it's awful to watch her try to not even use her leg or put weight on it at all. When I removed her to a seperate pen she just cries for my cinnamon queen ( they are pals) however my sexlink was picking on her a bit earlier. My RIR is the biggest by far. I placed her in the coop in the nesting area to sleep and she seemed much calmer. What do I do? She's my favorite and I love her:(

My largest hen had bumblefoot and had some issues for a while. I ended up soaking it in epsom salts, using drawing salve and wrapping it up with gauze and vet tape.

For your hen, I would soak out the foot, clean out the wound and put neosporin on it, pad it with a gauze pad and then wrap it with vet tape so she can't pick at it. Chickens don't get much blood to their feet so foot injuries are fairly serious. You may need to do this for a couple of months. My hen came out just fine.

Good luck!
