I gave my Ayem Cemani hen some of my mixed duck eggs to hatch. I've had 2 hatch with yolk still attached. The first one, the hen had cut herself (i watched her do it) and it died last night. Hen moved it to the end of the dog kennel.
Its very dry in my location and this baby duck was shrink wrapped badly under her, half hatched. My husband and I had to rewet baby to get the majority of the egg off. There was no blood (when we removed the soft portion of shell) but its still attached and now, there is blood showing on the paper towel from the eggshell.
I have it in incubator now at 99.5° sitting at 60% humidity.
Cut the cord? Let it dry out and detach by itself? Its calling and moving about but has not stood up yet.
