Cut leg on duck WWYD

morning,

This morning my duck Alice had her leg caught in some old string in a tree. I unhooked her and it’s not too bad of a cut but it looks about 1/2cm deep. It is bleeding a little. I don’t know if I should take her to the bird vet or if I can just wash her leg here at home? I’m mainly just worried about infection. Any advice please?

Can you post a picture of it?

depends on how bad it is but, wash it in warm soapy water and keep her in side if possible otherwise keep it clean and dry she should be fine

I tried to get a pic but she’s all skittish and hiding in the bushes. I’ll try and catch her when she’s resting and wash it

Big problem is flies if they get to the wound and lay eggs your going be dealing with maggots which can be a killer is not taken care of
