Last night we had a chicken cut her foot on a saw where the toe meets the foot pad. It's not deep, only about a couple millimeters and the bleeding stopped a few minutes after my daughter put a little hydrogen peroxide on it and wrapped it in a cloth. She was able to take it off. She got a dog crate and kept her(now Zena Warrior Princess), inside overnight. Zena ate some food this morning. She is moving around OK in her crate. My question is, what should we do now-wrap her foot again and put her back with the other chickens? I'm thinking not 'cause we have a couple young hormone-filled roosters causing a ruckus. Do we treat the cut with an ointment? Thank you.

Pictures may help. Can you place her in the dog crate with food and water back inside the coop? I would just put some betadine or plain Neosporin ointment on it and put an old clean towel in the crate for bedding. After a day or two, it should be healed enough to let her out.

Thank you, Ducksandchickens and Eggcessive. I am not tech-savvy enough to post a picture and I am alone in house. Sounds like a good plan.I will follow this treatment when I can get some help.
