I adore turtles! I have a breeding pair of Florida Red Belly turtles that were captive bred and they are 10 years old. She has laid eggs twice this year already. I also have 5 of her late hatchlings from last year that I'll find homes for when they get a little older.

Yes, we live in the salt marsh, the ideal habitat for these guys. Plenty of creeks and drainage ditches with brackish water. I only moved them 10 miles from where I found them, but this way they (hopefully) won't get hit by cars. I found them trying to cross the road, where they definitely would have been hit. Our farm has good sandy soil areas for them to lay their eggs in too. Too often they lay their eggs at the side of the road, where the babies will hatch & get into the road and get smashed. So I think I saved more than just 2 turtles.
