I have a Chocolate Lab/Border Collie cross pup that is about 1 year old. We just got chickens and he is FASCINATED! He stands with his nose glued to the side of the henhouse all day. He tried to chase them a little when I first got them and I dominated him and went through the whole routine. He doesn't chase them now but he stalks them! I caught one fiesty hen the other day and let him sniff her and lick her to his heart's content (this is what he always chases the cat for, a sniff and lick fest) and then the hen turned around and nailed him a couple of times! It was hilarious. I am hoping all these routines combined will keep him from wanting a bite. He is a hunter extraordinaire! My other Lab could care less and lets the chickens take her dusting spot.
