I found this in the new girls coop on Friday before we left for Ocean Shores(clam digging)... I couldn't believe how teeny it was, just too adorable! I THINK that my new girl, Sophie, laid it. She had just started brooding eggs when I brougth her home and i think she just laid this first egg on Friday, there's been a few more normal ones since.

I held it up to the light and it looks like theres even a yolk in there.... Could you imagine the size of the baby that would hatch out of this if it were possible???

What a cute egg- maybe you could blow it out and decorate it.

I have my doubts that it would be able to hatch. A small egg wouldnt necessarily mean a small duckling- it may get to a certain stage and die from lack of nutrients available or space to grow into. It could be an interesting experiment- like incubating a double yolker- most likely the result would a sad one.

I can't believe my little Mallards lay such huge eggs! OUCH!

Awfully cute egg. I'd be reluctant to incubate it.....I like the decorate it idea.

I don't plan to incubate it, It's just too tiny. IF it grew, the baby would likely get to a point and die because of lack of space or nutrients, like duckyfromoz said.

It would be a cute ornament wouldn't it?
