Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

I'd definitely keep an eye on him while he's in to see how they're treating him. I can't remember ever hearing of a duck drowning another grown duck, but I guess it's possible.
I don't think a duck could drown another grown duck either, but two or more can. With one duck the "victim" still has the ability to pivot to air. With more their options become limited. And other circumstances could always come into play. Safe is always better than sorry.

Oh, eeeeeeee, your avatar.

Looking forward to pics tomorrow for sure.

Fawn is a great name for your new mom bird. I once had a zebra finch that was fawn colored and I called her Fawn. I loved her a lot.

How cute that you carried her and the babies in a box all together. I am so glad you found them a safer place. Precious things need safety. Yay. As she is settling alone,(Fawn), will she exhibit odd behavior because her babies aren't with her?
Fawn is with her babies I just snapped a pic while she was being outraged by the move. I carried her out of the box but at the same time as the ducklings, if you carry them in the box sometimes babies get squished and hurt by mums outrage at the new mobile digs. I put the box with the ducklings down then pop her outside, good mother ducks always go to the peeping babies you just have to wait for them to start hatching so she knows what they sound like.

Should I? The edge of the pool is a couple inches taller than he is. I made a stairway out of bricks inside of the pool in case he gets in there. I'm just a little afraid that the other ducks might drown him or future female calls?
ducks drowning other ducks is a possibility even when they aren't trying to hurt each other. I recently had a hen die during a sexcapade when she broke into the drake pen.

Oh, the babies!!!!

Call Duck Folk, have any of you seen this? https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1024056/coughing-call-duck#post_15895457

Does anybody have an idea of what colour these call ducks are? What colour offspring will they produce? The male is the spotted chocolates bibbed duck! He is on the left!

Thanks!
LOL. @Julie Bird tagged me on this, so I'll respond to it. Those aren't a particular recognizable color of Call. They're mixes from different varieties, probably not mixed just in the first generation. They may have been from a place that allows all their varieties of Calls to breed freely and has for more than one generation.

I'll take a guess that the progeny will mostly be brown with some amount of bib since the bib will be dominant. You could see some that have the wild type since these are both mixes, meaning they'd have the eye stripes and more pronounced speculum. It's possible you'll end up with some ducklings that have some black markings/spotting, but that's hard to say without knowing what's in the drake's lineage.

Are these by any chance Aussie Calls?
