mine do have constant access or will as soon as the aviary is finished
i think they make about as much mess as any other duck depending on the space it has
mine are on start and grow but will soon go one flock raiser and eventually a mix of flock raiser and laying crumbles
for the space question idk i have a big area set up for mine

Sorry for the vague post, I was just MAJORLY overwhelmed yesterday! I was having a flare-up and DH was out all night Friday, so it was just me, a lotta pain and two hyper ducks who do NOT get along. I was about to tear my hair out!

It's always nice for a duck to have constant access, yes. Mine are house ducks, but I try to give them bath time each and every day. And yes, ALL ducks are messy, even the tiny ones!
