Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

Yeah! They're getting along better than ever, even when Wobs acts like a jerk, ha! And I Agree, a meetup would be nine kinds of awesome. <3
I am so glad. There is a future in this….

Did they crawl up onto you to watch TV or did you put them there? How is Bean with hands now?

Awe, Julie Bird! You're so sweet.

Oh, thank you. And you are too. I am so happy the whole call duck thing worked out so great for you guys. Does your 4 yr old like them?

He's actually six going on seven... But some days I wish he were four again! It's a fun age. He loves them but like most children, he looses interest quickly. Especially when I really don't want him handling them while they are adjusting.

They crawl up on me. Wobbles sucks at climbing, so it takes him a few tries of flapping and falling, bless him! And Bean is still a lil' nippy when she's in a bad mood, but for the most part she's been doing MUCH better. She even let sme kiss her head and stroke her bill! She'd never let me do that before!

I don't know if any of you put leg bands on your duck's but today I found out that can be potentially dangerous. Gadgets band somehow got caught on his wing feathers and his leg was stuck up by his wing while swimming. I had planned on cutting the bands off after they had some time to adjust. Needless to say it was done today. Gidget was banded on both legs, one plastic and one metal. We got the plastic one off fine but we are nervous about the other one and so left it for now. I teared up pretty good tonight though. Both Gidget and Gadget ate lettuce from my hand!!! Yep, my babies are coming around! I am so happy!

That is so sweet. I swear ducks are like therapy. I would love to snuggle tiny ducks and read. I bet watching them climb up is pretty cute especially knowing it's because they want to be right where you are.

It is, seeing 'em bumble along the blanket determined to get right up on your tummy or shoulder is just too cute! I don't recommend reading, though. They eat the pages.

Actually, I had a question for all you lovely call duck parents out there - do your birds turn into garbage disposals around this time of year? Bean's always been a finicky eater, and Wobbles is hit-or-miss, but starting this week they've both become total hogs! I'm guessing that their instincts are telling them it's getting time to migrate and they're trying to gobble up enough food to fuel their long journey? I know they tend to eat less in winter, so fall is probably Fatty Duck Time. That's just my assumption, anyway. Otherwise they're both going to turn into volleyballs at this rate.

Ours are eating less than normal, which has me really worried. I don't remember them ever doing the fattening up thing, which would presumably fall earlier for us than for you since you're on the opposite coast. Calls aren't migratory, but they could still be fueling up for the winter, or they could be fueling up to make BITTY BABY BEANS!!!
