Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

My chocolate hen broke into the boys pen last night.  Being the last un-clucky female after the boys had been girl free for up to a week did not end well for her.  I suspect they called dog pile with her at the bottom of the pile and the bottom of the pool.  Her boyfriend looked on through the fence.  Luckily I have a clucky chook to toss her eggs under so hopefully one of her daughters will be enough like her to make up for the loss.

Stupid sex crazed ducks.
OMG I am so sorry. That is sad for her and you.

Do any of your call hens ever just quack for no reason, especially at night? Bean's been randomly making loud yelping quacks at random intervals. Last night she was kickstanding, sleeping on one leg and was just...quacking. Her eyes were still closed and everything. Is she in pain? Or is this just something that female calls do?

Lady Grey does it... started in the middle of the night, just out of the blue... very loud, deliberate, measured quacks... no rhyme or reason now when she does it, but yes, mine does it too, lol...

Could she be having nightmares?

Maybe she could time it when you need to get up so that you can toss your alarm clock. Even though it probably wakes you up, it is kinda cute.

Is kickstanding the same thing as standing on one leg? if not, what does it mean?

Yeah! She does it during the day as well, just long, loud alarm quacks for no reason at all. But when she began doing it at night I was like "uhhhh...is my Beanie okay?" That's what she does! Just stands there going "MAAHP..MAAHP...MAAHP...MAAHP!"

Yup! Hehe sorry, that's just my term for it. Standing on one leg = kickstand, sleeping with feet and head tucked in = loaf, when they lie with one foot splayed behind them = lollipop, and both feet = bear rug.
