Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

Well, that's because Crash is just an awesome name. :D Actually, my Crash got her name after I dropped her egg like 4 days before she hatched, and it just stuck. Ironically, she was the only baby out of 4 that actually hatched, I guess because she had a little help breaking through her shell...
:thumbsup Yes, yes, we need this!
Trudi and Malcolm think humans are icky, so no, I can't hold them. :/ So they just pose cute for pictures, and Crashie gets all my ducky love. :love
Aw, thanks! :) My little duckies are Butterscotch calls.

I did that to a Lavender Ameraucana too... named it Crunch, lol... our Crash got her name cuz she'd run out of their nighttime brooder and crash every time... followed by her brother, Burn... so they became Crash & Burn, lol... she's nowhere near typy like yours, but she has always had an elegant look to her...

Oh that is torture. Cute cheeks and round bodz but I am glad you can love on Crashie. Somebody needs to get the scoop and kiss treatment.

I have an important question for my fellow call duck owners: Can mating help encourage a young female to start laying? Bean is nearing seven months old now and she and Wobbles are going at it like jackrabbits, yet still no eggies!

I doubt it. Ducks lay just fine without males.

Well I know that, silly. I was just curious if the act of mating would kickstart egg production, like some hormonal trigger or something.

I don't think it kickstarts egg production, really... but...

I think when the female starts getting actively receptive that it's a sign her hormones are changing and egg laying usually starts up soon after... Lady Grey did the same thing... about a month or 3 weeks before she laid he first egg, she was presenting herself to either drake that'd get close to her, lol... was looking like a little hussy...
