Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

Ok, I need some hatching help. I have 2 eggs that are due today that havnt internally pipped and I cannot find the beak. When candling it looked a bit strange with black blobs in the egg. Like little orbs of black throughout the embryo. The ducklings were alive when they went into lockdown in Wednesday. But I'm worried now. The remaining egg (only three due to hatch today) is fine and has externally pipped. Normally I would wait but I'm worried because of the black blobs and Have had sticky problems before. Also, I wonder if because I can't find the beak if it is upside down. What do you guys think I should do next? I was thinking make a peep hole in the shell? But how big should I make it to see inside?

I wouldn't do anything, except smell the eggs, they aren't past there due date so why would it be necessary to make a safe hole? Candling both ends to see if theres any empty spaces would tell you if your having another sticky issue. Since you had a sticky issue in the past, you need to fix that problem first before attempting to try and hatch again. If you don't fix that problem your always going to have an issue, which kind of defeats the purpose of hatching..

Black blobs could be a number of things, could be a vein busted kind of like a blood clot, could be the ending of development, without a clear pic of what your looking at, guessing would be the only option which isn't really accurate. Sending a pic of what you are looking at, could determine a more clear pic..

why are you looking for a beak? he hasn't internally pipped yet. I would start with smelling the egg and if the egg smells fine, then send a pic of what you are seeing, then candle both ends looking for any empty spacing.. then we can go from there.

Safe holes are not ment for you to look inside the shell, it's merely ment to help the embroy from suffication or running out of oxygen.. Will know for Calls... it's to help them breath, It's not ment for your purpose it's ment for the babies purpose. So if you decide to make one, which again, I don't think it a smart choice right now, but if you do, it's only should be the size of a pen tip. Since you have others cracking out, I would wait to see if the dominos take affect.. Usually the exscapers will inspire the slow pokers..

that's just my thought..

I believe I did fix the sticky problem, I had three dozen hatch out with minimal help, but then boom! These guys need help. So I wanted to check. I got a new fogger to create humidity and think it dribbled on the one egg and that is what is causing it's high humidity. I replaced that one and got a new one just in case. But the damage might of already been done. They all just kinda smell like eggs... I'm just worried because the last couple times the eggs were a bit late and then they ended up being sticky or upside down and didn't make it. And with other eggs I have hatched I could see the beak in under the membrane before it hatched. Just a darker spot in the shape of S beak. I will go get a pic now, for some reason the app is acting funky and when I click the add picture from photo library the app just crashes... So I'll try the computer.

Being sticky is very difficult to recover from. The success rate is low, not impossible but is low. The only thing so far that I have see that helps is to INCREASE that humidity up to about 80 but you can not do that if you have other eggs in there that are popping out. So your best move is to sit and wait. Once the others are done and fluffed up and the sticky ones are still struggling, then try to Jack up that humidity. Otherwise place them in a bator of there own with the High humidity. But we aren't 100% this is the problem yet..

Ok, working on photos now. Candles and it does seem like on both there is an open area on the bottom.... What do you do if there is an upside downer?
