Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

Yes, of course. He gets a nightly bath as well. None of those things are more than a temporary fix though because of the hole in the roof of his mouth, directly under his nares. When he eats the food gets pushed up into the hole, therefore clogging his nares. It takes me manually removing it. I still had his three siblings when I took Cal to his appointment on Saturday morning. We compared his mouth with theirs and his was the only one with the hole, which made sense considering he was the only one having the presenting problems. I'll keep you updated as he continues to grow up.
I know it was a stupid question to ask you.You do like a good challenge, don't you?

I'm glad he's in your hands. What a sweet baby. It's very interesting though. Please keep us all informed.

yeah i clip both wings on my mallards, it lets them fly down hills but they get no lift, and if i ever have to let the calls outside i will probably clip both wings. But mine dont really ever fly anyway like they just weren't really ever into it.

Mine want to fly before the fuzz is off their wings, lol... yours are more spoiled than most, so I bet they just don't want to risk getting blown off course and missing out on all the treats and love...

No prob! :)

Lol very true!! But I feel so bad without having the pool in there for them , they haven't even attempted mateing since I stopped giving them baths every other day :( its like there on strike when all I want is grandducks :(, but all that aside Ravyn yours are so spoiled I don't know why they would want to even risk flying away in the first place.

It's the juvies that I worry about... they just get excited before they learn to steer or land properly, lol... and we have a pair of hawks living down the hill from us and bird eating dogs at the other neighbors place... all of my adults will do a proper full fight and always land right where they belong... :D

Buff, maybe you could get a couple small pans for them? Like the rubber bowls at the feed store or oil changing pans? You'd be amazed what they will do with just that... ;)

No, it wasn't stupid. You're just checking in on your grand duck (; He and one of his sisters, the runt, were my favorite from the very beginning. So, naturally when I was told he was a boy and she was a girl, I knew he was my keeper. Then we got the news at his vet appt and I was even more sure. He needs my special care and, like I said earlier, I'll give it to him his whole life if that's what he needs <3

Yeah mine are about the size of a pigeon my biggest is isis(low show quality about mid breeder quality) she's about a third the size of a mallard maybe a bit bigger than a third but yeah.

Well, I know as adults there can be a size difference between the qualities but I'm talking about as babies. Cal seems super small to be three weeks and one day old. Winter was twice his size by this age.
