I have five pullets, some with a silkie dad and some with a cochin dad...two many types of hens as choices for moms to mention. Anyway, my favorite one is also the largest, which made me think it was a boy from the start. The one in question started off all grey and when I put them in the run I thought it was just getting dirty...then realized it's growing a kinda brown colored feather around its neck and tail. Boy? Also..I'm think the barred looking one next to him might be a boy. They're four and a half weeks old.

I think the barred is a pullet. I think the other one is a silkie-cochin cross. Could you get a comb shot of it? That would help with the gender.

BTW, Silkie-cochins are the best! My favorite chicken is a silkie-cochin. I love her to pieces! She's my avatar and album in my signature.

How can I get a shot of the comb...its under that mop on her head;) Should I try to part the feathers?? I haven't had any silkies before so I don't know anything about them.
