Chirping
We started building our coop a couple of months ago. Our chicks got here the 29th of May, 3 weeks ago. We are brooding them outside and they love it (so do we). The more youtube I watch and the more BYC I read, I keep coming up with bigger and better ideas.
We got rain yesterday so I had to make some improvements today to hopefully prevent water from getting in their food. I thought it was okay but some got in there. Fixed.
I went and got some sod today and put down in the run. They LOVED it. I have my chair in there because I love sitting with them and they come and perch on me when I'm in there.
The nesting box we are going to have to move to the outside of the coop. I had ordered 5 chicks, they sent 8. 1 extra of each breed we got. It is now going to be too small when they are grown if they are all hens, really hoping. It is currently 3x4 with the nesting inside. Moving it out will give us 4x4, which is still tight. I keep trying to reconfigure the inside of the house to get the most room in there since we have more than planned.
We made a gravity feed feeder and waterer with water cups. It took them about 2 days to figure out the water cups. They were 1-2 weeks old then and are pros now. My husband doesn't know it, but I'm building a bigger coop/run in my head already....hee hee.
Any suggestions for what I have now are appreciated. I think everything is working right, but the size of the coop just really bothers me since I ended up with more than expected, not complaining, just have to adjust.
Thanks all!
