Hi, I have searched and searched and cant find anything similar. We have a bantam with a swollen head. First noticed a few weeks ago and seperated from the rest of the flock. This week I have tried tylan orally and pretty much made no difference. No sneezing, no watery eyes, lays and eats normally but her head is about twice the size. Today noticed blood from what appears to be damage from rooster or other hen. Any tips please?

What kind of bantam? I know silkies can have what is called vaulted skull where the skull doesn't close all the way. This makes the brain bump up a bit and it's more susceptible to damage. Not sure if it happens in other breeds.

Thank you, I didn’t know that. This one is a sebright I’ll post a pic of the healthy one compared to the patient. I noticed dried blood after he managed to escape into the flock last night so suspect damage over disease.

I have never seen anything like that. Separate her and hopefully someone comes along with some good info. Did the swollen head happen slow or overnight?

Thanks for your reply. She has been separated for a week and was possibly looking better. She escaped into the flock which was when the blood appeared. It seemed to happen very quickly and isn’t going away.

I'm wondering if it could be a tumor or something like that. You'd think the antibiotics would have calmed down it if it was an infection. What does it feel like?

It feels warm, possibly like an infection and firm but she is the one the flock pick on so I’m more sure/hoping it’s injury related.
