Okay this our first time having chicks and raising chickens! Everything has gone pretty well, I’ve had to clean some poopy butts here and there but nothing serious. Except I noticed yesterday on my little Easter eggers vent the bottom looks scabbed? The top looks fine, but I’m not sure. I thought it was poop at first and tried to clean it and it obviously made her very uncomfortable so I dabbed some olive oil so nothing would stick and have checked it this morning with no improvements. Is there an ointment I should try or another treatment? Help! It’s my 3 year olds chick(her name is Rexy) and he would be so so sad if she didn’t make it.

She may have had some poop on it and the others might have pecked to the point of blood. Is she still able to poop? I would be careful with olive oil since it can spoil and let bacteria set in. I think plain honey would be fine. That’d what I put on prolapses. Maybe neosporin as well.

I’ll have to try the honey. Thanks!!
