Dandruff looking Particles

Is this normal? or is something wrong with my baby boy? My rooster is 12 weeks old and has been dropping dandruff looking particles ever since I can remember. And he eats it. Is this just for now until he becomes an adult or is this going to continue all the time?

You cockerel is still feathering in and shedding keratin sheaths from the feathers.
It's not unusual for them to eat the sheaths, it won't hurt them.
As he matures and finally feathers in with his adult feathers, the shedding will be greatly reduced. I wouldn't say it every completely stops - chickens are very dusty with dander and shedding, so you may occasionally see flakes any time of the year.
That's why I get chicks outside asap - all that dust, dander and oil! It sticks to everything.

Thank you so much for the info. I feel much better. I only have one bird and don't have much chose on putting him out. So i will deal with it. I was just worried about what it was. Thank you

Nope! So, I was thinking of taking him once a week to spend some hours at the place where his mother had him and i took his egg.

Chickens are flock animals and really would appreciate having a friend that speaks their language.

If you're not interested in eggs, another cockerel could be a companion for him.

He will be o.k. by himself, I keep cockerels/roosters singly too (outside).
Chickens do not really remember other chickens in a sense of "visiting" so personally I wouldn't do that. Stress of going to a new place, exposure to possible illnesses, etc. he would be better off staying in his home territory.
Provide him with outdoor housing so he can get fresh air and sunshine.
