Dang Dogs

I to am sorry for your problems.
I had my neighbor's dogs break into my guinea pen not once but twice and killed my guineas that I raised from new hatchs.I have told the neighbor soooo many times to keep his dogs at home and his response to me was if they are doing something they shouldn't then SHOOT THEM. On the second time the county paid me back in money for my loss and told the neighbor that if they came back I had the right and would shoot the dogs.

Most states have laws that state if dogs are harrasing livestock then you have the duty and the right to shoot that animal.
Here in Buckingham county VA the law states that if you see dogs going after live stock your to stop and try to stop them from hurting the livestock. Also most idoits don't care to listen or obey the laws and here from the first of April to the end of june ALL DOGS ARE TO BE KEPT RESTRAINED AND AT HOME. This is due to the fact that wild life are giving birth during this time and do any of them listen hell no.
I was a vet tech/surgical asst for 17 years and I was in the business of saving lives however after I retired 7 years ago and moved from the city to the country I have done some mental changing and after loosing my guineas twice I will now without a blink of an eye shoot any dog or coyote or bob cat or what ever that is harrasing my chickens.
I recently lost two of my Buff silkies to hawks that flew into my barn, they killed my roo and took off with my hen and I have never heard of a hawk flying into a barn to get at chickens. They are well protected now with steel wiring.
I will say to you if your in the country you have the right to protect your livestock by law and I would practice on your target shooting so you will have a dead aim.If the owners of these stray dogs don't care about them then why should we.
Just my thought's and my way of dealing with the problem.
