While gone on vacation, my DIL told me there was a dead bird in the coup. Some of my girls were older, and it happens. Today though, I went down to 3 dead in the run, and a dead chick... better be looking a bit more carefully at the set up.

Ugh, I hate this part. And of course, the two I was going to cull... well they are still chipper.

OhCr@p! That stinks. Hope you figure it out.

UGH! Double UGH! I have a rooster and a hen left! Good grief, 3 more dead today and what was left of the chicks. I mean really. I have been in this set up since Christmas and not a single loss. 7 hens since Sunday and 10 chicks, yuck. Where I thought they were getting in, they were not, but found another spot on top of the coop, a bunch of scat.

Traps set, may spotlight tonight, it has to be coons. UGH! It has been years since I was hit this hard. I put the two in the old coup/run set up. I think that is tight.

Can you beg, borrow a game cam? In addition to a live trap, can you get s local trapper to set a leg hold for you??? Bait the murder site with some tuna fish, or something else stinky, perhaps even leave a dead chicken body. so sorry. that stinks.

D@mn!!! So Sorry!

Hmmm, this pretty much means a do over. Different times in the last several years, I have thought I would like this breed or that... but really I like a flock of different chickens. Think I might just go to Sandhills and see if I can get a mix. If I get them now, they would be coming into lay in January. Going to be a long fall of store bought eggs. I am blessed that this is not an impossibility for me. Get them ordered, get the coop/run cleaned up and made tight.

Dang discouraging, but not impossible.
