Just gave Coconut, pure Araucana, and Mrs. Disco Chicken, an ancona, to my friend Helene. They werent laying anymore anyway and I plan to cut back on birds for the winter so giving them to friends here and there as my kids wont let me eat them right now . . .
Well, DANGED if Coconut didn't lay a lovely egg on her very first morning at the new digs. Might be because she's in with a bunch of bantams now and no pecking order issues. My rocks and reds have been awfully bossy lately- almost nasty.
Do you think that's it?
Or was she just saying thanks to dear freind Helene, who has a whole lot more land than me and can afford to keep non-productive birds.
