Ok,, some of you know my Dani Quail,, she was one of several I hatched for the State of NM a couple of years ago when the mom quail was killed. All the officers there know me pretty much and brought me the eggs to incubate. They all hatched, and when I turned the group loose one flew into a mesquite bush and lost all of it's tail feathers so I has to bring that one back to the house until it had enough feathers to be able to fly to safety. She bonded with the younger chickens, one of whom is Coby, Nugget's son; he is HER rooster and she sticks to him like glue. Well today a male quail showed up as some have before,, and the chickens have always run them off. This one they haven't bothered and he follows her everywhere! Coby gives him funny looks but hasn't hurt him so maybe she will actually mate with him. She has never laid an egg that I know of and she is almost 2 years old now. But here she is with Coby and with the Visitor!
She still had her dinner with Coby at her hanging feeder as usual.
