We ended up with two of them and the dominant rooster is starting to chase sometimes. He is very handsome, starting to show beautiful coloration gradients/sheen. He is 10 weeks old and very tame. I hold and hand feed him, and he will even allow being cuddled/held on his back. Please let me know if you are interested and we can talk more from there.

As a matter of fact...I have some various breeds of 8-10 wk old pullets. They are named, loved pets, but I would be willing to offer a trade as insurance that your boy won't be "tabled". I desire the genes, so...he's gonna be pretty happy over here, if ya know what I mean.

Hey Stephanie, I was researching the black combs and found a convincing thread meantioning Black Sex Links, or BSL. From what I could find it seems the most viable explanation and feathering was dead on too.
I meantioned to you that an @woods employee had mis-identified them verbally as Australorps. Wellllllll...It happens that the same individual called my broiler (a Cornish X Rock I now presume by her LARGER size) a White Leghorn...my Red Sex Links were Rhode Island Reds (of course) and all other variations from that purhase were said to be 'Meruhcaunas...Hah...my Buff Orpingtons are very pleasing to the eye and I really enjoy my SLW along with some Ameracauna-ish mongrels...
I only have 1 surefire Roo at this point when it comes to the record,"Funny Face" and he's a RSL, but my suspect is the BSL with the pretty plumage and now red comb. My oldest daughter named "her" "Sweety Pie" and we're keepin' the name only adding Mr. I may be looking at my SLW just by recent behavior (kinda like your DBL being more dominant, but even hens do it to one another, right?) and a little curling on her neck just surfacing but every feather on "Lacey" is an awesome mystery to me. Of course it'll be "Mr. Lacey" if so, lol!
Anyway...my Broiler, "Foggy" runs the show as top hen, and all else follow regardless of gender and compete for status from there...but nobody and I mean NOBODY competes with (1)"Princess Foggy". (2)"Funny" and (3)"Mr. Sweety Pie" are directly under her and seem to share rank and shell out chauvanistic authority downward to (4) "Lacey", (5) "Betsy" an RSL, (6) "Copper" also RSL, (7 & 8) "Popcorn" and "Sister Rosa" her sister lol, are BO...next in lower, middle management we have (9) Pencil, a brown, pencil feathered beauty of a grey bearded mongrel w/ pea comb and green legs. 10-14 are "Itsy Bitsy", "Easter"...both presumed mongrels of totally different mongrel lineage (lol again), "Suzy Q" the BSL with the dark comb. "Roxanne" my Barred Rock and "Juniper" my confirmed, seperately purchased Australorp from Lee's Feed in Catoosa/Tulsa.
Your concern for your (coveted) DBL cockerels was touching. Glad we got to chat and such, and thought you would appreciate the update on what info I could find regarding my BSL's(?) w/ the black combs. God Bless! :)

Glad to hear that it seems to just be a color variation. I hate to hear of a chicken who might have a health problem. They are such family pets at this point. Enjoy your chickens with your children. I will let you know how the two roosters seem to be getting along, if I remember at the time. Thanks.
