Quote: My first tip is to study the standard, talk to people, and look at a lot of birds, learn what good type looks like. This is harder than it sounds, You have to learn to look at the negative things, I still find myself over looking faults because I at too focused on an exceptionally good point on a bird. Then find some good birds, you won't find perfect ones, just try and get the best you can, Most good breeders will tell you exactly what needs work in their line,if they won't go somewhere else. Be Careful buying birds at a swap meets or a show, they are usually there for a reason, I am not saying you can't get good birds at these places you just have to know what you are looking for. After you get good stock the rest is easier.

Aubrey, darling, NEVER apologize for picture day!![]()
Have you ever seen a D'Anver rooster pout? Well, Spike does. I swear, if he had lips, they'd have been on the floor today. I went in and did some clean up, gave the chicks some starter and as I was leaving, I looked down at my feet and that little guy was standing with his feet touching my shoes looking up at me, like "Where is my scratch, mama? You aren't really leaving without giving me something, are you??". You should have seen his face. Even my DH said, hey, Spike wants his goodies! The other day he was standing on my shoes.
Aubry I have been fighting it, but I must have some of those blacks. They are beautiful beyond words.
