Daphne’s “push through ‘til winter” thread

Just popping in for a quick update. Daphne‘s made it 10 days, so far, without any medical intervention. She‘s passed a small number of unshelled eggs in that time, but has been otherwise happy and healthy. It’s a bit too early to say that she’s fully out of the woods, but I’m feeling very hopeful!

I well and truly thought we were out of the woods, but the first sunny day in a while may be the cause for a sudden onset of symptoms (sitting, straining, limping). I’m unexpectedly off work today, so I was able to get some calcium into her immediately after quick exam. Overall, she is in better shape than a month ago. During the worst of her struggles, she was too thin. She’s plumped back up nicely (and not in a worrisome bloat kind of way). Her feet and legs look good and were not painful. No palpable egg, but she’s not created a properly shelled egg in eons, so that is not surprising. As I type, she’s already moving around more.

Bless her heart. Getting that calcium into her quick seems to be the trick in getting her over it.
