Goon 2 shines in every picture.

See?

Update-wise, Goon 1’s leg has completely healed. He remains a horrible flyer (not worth trimming his wings) and a worse “lander”, and he knows it. Goon 2 is all personality. She hasn’t grown in a long time and is clearly going to stay petite. She still trills about everything, flies (and lands) gracefully, and refuses to be caught to have her wings trimmed. Daphne is her usual perfect self. We are still planning on getting her more mallard-derived sisters.

Thought of the day - Shouldn’t Goon 1 (white ‘Scovy) be bigger by now? They are about 18-19 weeks old now and, although bigger than Goon 2, he hasn’t grown much recently and hasn’t had any caruncle growth besides the tiny bit he started growing over 1 month ago. No hissing from him yet either. He even has skinny legs! It seems like everyone else’s drakes are more “manly” by this age!

Um, they both look female? When will you give them names?

When I finally feel confident about their genders! :idunno They do need names though. They have grown so much from the little ducklings that chased Daphne around. Do you really think the white one could be female?! I’ve always assumed male from day 1. For a while, I was afraid that both might be drakes, but I never thought they could both be ducks! That would make life easier....

Mine at the age you say yours are. You can definitely see the difference between the drake and the hens.

Thank you :) We did get them at a couple of months old, and their actual birthday was unclear from their original owners, but I don’t think they could be anything under 17 weeks at the absolute youngest!

Yes, they both are relatively the same size, their lack of caruncles, and the thin legs all point to female.
