Dark chocolate brown eggs

I have two star cross, two RIR, one bared rock, two buff o, and two what I think are the austrolopes. Anyway, they just started laying and someone is laying a DARK Dark brown egg, the color of a hershey's kiss. I am sure it is not the RIR, or the Bared. But I have never had laying BO, or the Aus. Does anyone have an idea? mk

From that description, it sounds like a Marans egg - you're sure you don't have a Marans?

Not the BO. Maybe the Austrolarp, we have never had a hen. But our Red Star young hens lay very dark brown eggs, and we had a Red Star before and hers were not that color. So maybe your star cross hens?

My black stars lay a dark egg.... darker than any of my other girls with exception of the maran.
