I picked out these two rouens from about 200 pure bred rouens at the feed store. The one on the right caught my eye because of his/her really dark coloring. (The center ones are same age snowy mallards) Anybody else seen this before? I wonder if the adult coloring will be any different...

my rouens are light colored but i ordered some eggs and they hatched darker the same as yours the are 5 weeks now so i keep in touch with this one

I had one last year that turned out to be a female with a couple white wing feathers. I bred her to my very handsome male Rouen this year and a silkie hen is setting on the eggs right now. We will see what the babies look like. I will keep posting this little guy as he grows too.

Well here they are again, they are in with the big ducks now! Our little dark one is on the right. She/he is about half the size of her sibling so I suspect a crossbreed here. The adult feathers are coming in slightly though and they both have normal Rouen coloring. Oh and that is blood all over the wall in the corner. My poor rooster got a little cut on his comb during a fight and made a mess over there.

Their feathers are coming in now and you can see the color difference between the two. The dark one has a lot of red in him, very pretty!

He is in the front between his brother and my call drake.

Here he is up front again:
