I was given 6 dark green eggs and 6 brown eggs, I think the brown ones are marans, would the dark green eggs be turkey eggs??
(he keeps ducks, hens and turkeys)

Depending on what type of ducks he has, they could also be duck eggs. The dark brown ones could be any number of breeds. They could be marans, but welsummers lay a dark brown egg, and some of the 'brown-egg layers' lay a pretty dark egg. My dad's RIR used to lay very brown eggs, until we switched their feed.

I'm very curious what kind of feed may have darkened the eggs- do you know what the feed was before the change? I'm posting this on the thread, too, but wasn't sure if you'd see it.

Thanks!

Renee

Hi Renee, I answered your PM, but thought I'd post here as well.
The feed made the eggs get lighter, not darker. They were already dark. The RIR are my dad's birds, and he was feeding them Purina Layena with oyster shells on the side. He decided to go cheap, and is now feeding them a 16% calf grower mix that our feed store mixes. Since he has changed them to the 16% feed, their eggs have become very light, almost white. At first, I thought it could be due to the hens being at the end of their 'cycle' but the eggs have not gotten dark again. It has been at least 2 months since he switched their feed.

Cayugas eggs are supposed to start out black, then lighten to grey or green color by the end of the season. But rouens and mallards are supposed to lay green eggs, and I believe the runners are as well, though I'm not sure on that part. Bottom line is that the green eggs are not from a turkey

Turkey eggs are normally white/off-white with brown specks on them.

Thanks shelleyd2008

I didn't know I bought mine this spring about a month old and now they are 14 week old.
When about do they start laying??
