I have 1 duck that is not a freeloader at the moment. In one of her eggs I noticed a dark spot when I held it up to a light. It moves around when the egg is turned in different directions. Still new at this with chickens and ducks but I was wondering if anyone else has seen this before.

Are you positive it was just freshly laid?

It could be just a meat spot, which is part of the intestinal lining, very very normal with new layers. If there is a possibility that it was laid longer ago, it almost resembles development of an embryo that has stopped developing.
Crack it open in a separate bowl before using it.

Yes, I have. About 4 times in the past 6 months. It's yucky looking and my eggs are not fertile so it couldn't be that. I was cooking with it and luckily I always crack into a little dish before adding to whatever I'm making. I didn't take a picture and I should have. I will the next time I get one and post it.

This one she laid 3 days ago but the egg she laid this morning didn't have the spot in it when I held it up to the light.
