Darlings won't sleep on their roost...addicted to nesting boxes!

If these sweet ladies are not laying yet, use some chicken wire to stop them from going in the laying boxes while you are training them to go to the roost. If the roost is lower than the nesting boxes, you will need to raise it, too.

Good Luck - - - AND HURRY those girls will be laying soon and you want this fixed before then or your eggs will have poo on them !

Hubby will be raising the roosts this weekend for sure. They are high, but clearly not high enough. I just realized that they may be laying sooner rather than later and you are totally correct math ace... I don't want poo covered eggs. Thanks for the advice!

When my young birds joined my older birds I had to help them LEARN to use the roost. When I was raising the young birds they were in an area where there was an "A" frame they could sleep in. They NEVER knew what is was like to sleep on a roost.

So, in the evening I would go out there and move them from the nesting boxes to the roost. I had to do this every night for a week to establish that this was where I wanted them to sleep. They figured it out - - yours will too - - - with a little help.
